Anonymous Living

Just a few months after I started my blog I had to set up a filter in order to preview comments before they are posted.

I’ve heard it said before, but began to experience it myself, that the internet is a great place for cowards to roam.

The most interesting thing to me is this: all the weird comments that get left on my blog are always posted by anonymous commenters. I can assure you I will always filter out anonymous comments, no matter what they are.

If you have a viewpoint worth sharing, have the courage to put your name with it and stand behind your thoughts.

Anonymous living, at any level, is for cowards.

Don't be a hater, little ian. It's not very appealing.

I love this post. In my opinion ... say what you mean and mean what you say!!!

  6. Lisa Said,

+1 for Kimberly's post! I have adopted the idea of not saying anything about someone, that I wouldn't say TO that person. It helps to keep me closer to the integrity side of town, and farther away from the sneaky-sniper side.
Plus, I'm a really bad liar and it's too hard to keep up with all the details if it's not the absolute truth :-)

Question: Who reads blogs of people they hate?

Answer: People who haven't moved on or people who have too much time on their hands.

  8. Rhonda J Said,

How can someone call themselves a Christian yet "hate" anyone?
For every one person that has a negative thought about you, there are hundreds that stand behind you and love you. You are the most amazing teacher, speaker, encourager and man of God that I have ever met! You have changed not only my life, but thousands of others as well.

I stand with Rhonda and thousands of others on this one. I know Kirk Bowman better than anyone, I am married to him. He is the most authentic person I know with no hidden agendas. He loves God, the church and people and is willing to lay his life down for the cause of Christ. How can you possibly hate someone like that? Maybe the problem is with the hater.

  11. Anonymous Said,

Small-minded people have small vision and don't realize when they are in the presence of greatness, wisdom, and a true man of God. All through the Word, great men called by God received "hate mail" from small-minded, bitter, angry people. PK - you are counted among the greatest, and should be honored so. Thanks for continuing to walk in integrity and greatness with your eyes on the prize of Jesus, and not letting the ugliness of small-minded people hold you down. You are awe-inspiring!

  12. MichaelB Said,

For those who are wondering why anyone who "hates" (and has been gone from the church for YEARS) would be reading PK's blog, I speak from experience when I say, people who have been "offended"(which means they forgot its not about them its about Jesus), or "abused"(which means they forgot that Chritianity is a race that requires constantly drinking from the Word to not get tired(lazy),are haters because down deep they know they have allowed themselves to get knocked out of where God is moving and the anger is really at themselves and instead of admitting they made a mistake they redirect it outward.
Most are also still reading PK's blog (and would never admit it), and are always on the hunt for negative rumor mill info about what is going on w/ PK & PS and The Rock Church and will use any negative tidbit they can undermine the church or the leader to justifies their mistake.
The bottom line is their spirits are still want to be where God is and hear from the man of God, but can't get past their own pride to reconcile the situation.
As one who has made that hard step (by the mercy and grace of God) and come home, I will say proudly and with all my heart. I LOVE YOU PK & PS, your ministry has literally saved my life. As for the haters, look at the fruit of their lives (hatred, bitterness) and the fruit of PK & PS's lives (Thousands saved and counting). NO CONTEST.

  13. Coral Said,

    Dear God,
Break our heart for what breaks your's. Even though the enemy loves to steal, kill and destroy relationships, wasn't all this (church)your your idea in the first place? It was...so we can be sure it is very near and dear to your heart.
Thank you for your word that is packed full of stories of imperfect people, your grace, mercy, love and forgiveness.
And thank you for showing us how that when you forgive, you also forget!
    Dear Ian,
Maybe it's just a teenage phase...but as a rule, hurt people hurt people.
I pray that God will heal your hurt & help you process your displaced anger. Ian, God is for real & He really loves you and so do I.

  16. Chase Trevor Said,

    hi,
i just wanted to comment on the whole anonymous nature of this subject in the first place

lets face it...there have been a lot of people leave The Rock over the years as there are with all churches
i happen to have seen first hand 2 "major" exoduses
ya know...the whole spruce pine thing and the whole c3asheville thing
i'm just tired of everyone kinda talking about it but not REALLY talking about it
ya know, anonymous comments are annoying i'm sure...and some people should act thier age
backbiting, rumor-spreading, hate-mail, etc. are all cowardly ways to express your thoughts
(and might i add that i'm preaching to the choir here)
but, i think that ultimately we are all frustrated at the lack of free-flowing communication and, furthermore, we could all use a lesson in how to communicate properly

i guess what i'm really trying to say is that i, for one, am done with the drama for good
i wanna stretch a public hand across the aisle, a hand that...
    ...loves
    ...understands
    ...cares
    ...and desires peace

so...for better or worse i'll put myself in the middle and despite my opinions or issues i'll stand for peace

oh, and on a more serious and more personal note i would like to add that i find Ps. Chris' comment here to be disrespectful and offensive. to jab at someone's parents because of their child's mistake can be, in some instances, misguided and i believe in this instance it might be. Robert and Cynthia Moore are great people and have done nothing to deserve such a underhanded blow. i find those can be very unappealing as well. i think an apology might be in order.

    In All Love,
    Chase Thomas

  18. Rhonda J Said,

Thank you Chase for your very wise words. I agree that everyone, not just Christians, but everyone could use a lesson in communicating with peace.
I think the reason Ian's post caused so many responses and varied emotions is because as members of The Rock we have all seen the enemy try to knock PK & PS down so many times and try to derail them that we automatically go into defense mode and want to protect them when another strike arises. They are our spiritual leaders, our spiritual parents and we do whatever needs to be done to protect them out of love.
