A few years back there was a commercial where Jerry Jones (owner of the Dallas Cowboys) offered Deion Sanders 15 or 20 million to play for him. His reply "Both, boss"
I like the both, boss approach to living.
Should I be prosperous or sacrificial - both, boss
Should I be confident or humble - both, boss
Should I be devotional or an active revolutionary - both, boss
There is a conversation going on right now about whether the church should be attractional (Ya'll come) or missional (Let's go). Guess what I think? You're right - both, boss
We should gather for meetings. It's the Bible. Any other form of Christianity is non-Biblical. If we're going to have meetings, let's make them fantastic. The best 100 minutes of a person's week. Attractive in every way.
But when we're done - go into all the world and bring good news. Not because the church organized a program for you to reach out but because you care enough to make a difference.
Let's send attractive people out on a mission. Let's be on a mission to attract people to God and His house.
Both, boss.

So, I'll begin by saying Thanks- for putting things in perpective...
Everyday I go to work in a place devoted to making clients as attractive as they can be. Employees are hired according to skill in their craft, ability to communicate, and appearance... please mantain the right hair, the right clothes, don't get caught without lipgloss on -and, for Pete's sake, don't ever get f-a-t. Sound a tad elitest, and unforgiving? Of course. Smart? Definately. Would we go to a therapist who was an emotional wreck, or a destitute financial advisor...probably not.
Whether someone is just curious about Christianity, or desperate to get to God - they won't come unless they are attracted. The representative portrays the institution...
So- we strive to become magnetic embassadors for the kingdom, and for our church. Thanks to you and Ps for remaining excellent- and for making God's house the most attractive one on the block.
And-I've learned this, listening to you...our God wants to give us more than both- He wants to give us all.
That makes me want to be "all" that I can be for Him.
